Event Provides Students with Insights on Heritage, Career, and Identity

MANHASSET, NY — May 30, 2025 — The Manhasset High School Social Studies Honor Society (SSHS) and Youth Civic Service (YCS) co-hosted an oral history speaker session on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in celebration of Asian Heritage Month. The collaboration was initiated by SSHS Vice President Hudson Yang, who also serves as Co-Founder of YCS.
The event, titled “Asian Heritage, Identity & Experience,” connected students directly with seven professionals from the Asian American community through an informal, roundtable-style discussion rather than a traditional panel.
Each guest speaker engaged with small groups of 8–10 students in interactive conversations. This setting allowed students to ask questions about the speakers’ personal and professional journeys. The guests shared stories about their upbringing, education, and career paths, providing students with first-hand insights into fields ranging from medicine and public service to entrepreneurship and social impact.
